We, Jon, Hayley, Abbey and Holly, acquired Merkins Farm in the early 2000s. We have no idea why the Farm was given its unusual name, although we are often asked if it’s our surname! Not long after we moved in, a local farmer, who now frequents the Café, suggested we opened a little campsite. We were granted permission, and so it began…
A couple of years later, the derelict Cow Stalls were converted one at a time into Holiday Cottages.
The Café has been open since the summer of 2011. The idea was to provide Campers with a Cream Tea and a Bacon Roll! We think the word got out!
We are proud to have created employment for 25 people from the local area.
At Merkins Café we go above and beyond to give every one of our customers their ideal café experience. Our goal is for them to enjoy it as much as we loved creating it.
